米国サンフランシスコ市、Academy of Art University（旧 Academy of Art College）美術学部版画専攻卒。

California Society of Printmakers（カリフォルニア版画家協会）会員。

米国サンフランシスコ市に18年間居住後、横浜へ再移住。

横浜・石川町にてLAUNCH PAD GALLERYを運営し活動拠点を置く。

ステートメント / Statement

モノタイプという、彫ったり削ったりしていないプラスティックの板に、直接インクをのせて刷る、版表現でありながら複製性のない版画技法を主に使用しています。作品によってコラージュやドライポイントなどの技法も用い、言葉が与えられる前のプリミティブな感情や思考を題材にしています。

版表現の持つ、紙に刷るまで作品の様子が確実には分からない感覚を楽しみながら制作しています。自分の中の混沌を版画というフィルターで濾過すると、自分自身の思いがけない面を見せてくれます。このシンプルな悦びが、私が版画を制作するモチベーションです。技法の巧拙や正統性にがんじがらめにならずに、私の表現手段として、その道具として、版画に向き合っています。

I work mainly in Monotype, which is a printmaking technique using inks or paints on unmarked plates producing an image that is a one of a kind artwork like a painting.

My main theme represents primitive emotions that pop up in my mind but no words in any language are selected to describe it yet.

I enjoy the unpredictable nature of printmaking. You don’t know the result till you print the image on to a paper no matter how hard you work on the plates. I believe the printmaking method serves as filter to clarify images and ideas for me. It brings out new perspectives to my thoughts and works as a great tool to express my vision. Never bound by degrees of skill or tradition, simple joy motivates me to pursue fine art printmaking.
